Competition
This project began with research into fish deaths in rural West Wales, where agricultural pesticide runoff is polluting rivers and harming local ecosystems. I investigated how farming practices impact water quality and how graphic design could raise public awareness around this issue.
From this research, I developed informational boards to communicate key facts and highlight sustainable alternatives, such as natural planting methods to reduce chemical use.
For the disruptive design, I created packaging for food vendors at a farmers’ market using custom-printed newspaper wraps, provocative illustrations, and rebranded sauce sachets with chemical names like “Nitrogen” and “Acid.” This approach aimed to make invisible environmental damage visible, using design to inform and confront audiences in unexpected ways.
